SOFT-SIDED CRATES & CARRIERS

Civilized Pet Tips: Soft sided crates are usually lighter weight than hard sided crates, but they also don’t provide as much protection as a hard shelled crate. For short car trips with small calm pets, soft sided carriers are well ventilated with more mesh. Their advantage for plane travel is for bringing your pet under the seat with you on board. Soft sided crates, providing they conform to your air carrier’s restrictions for pet travel in the cabin, will flex to conform to the tight space under the seat and still maximize the space inside for your pet with good ventilation.
